There is no more need to be afraid of showing off your English now. On Saturday, November 15, 2014, Language Training Centre and Faculty of Letters held an occasion called Saturday Easy Talk or SatET. As the founder, Mr. Khristianto, S.S., M.Hum said that SETalk is for everyone from students to lecturers. SatET is also a special place for those who love English to share ideas, problems, opinions, etc.
It is expected for the students to be braver to speak up because the atmosphere will be so much different with the lectures they usually have in classroom, where they might tend to be afraid to speak. Here in SatET, students and lecturers will just sit together and have a super easy talk using English. It was SETalk’s first meeting on last Saturday and attended by junior to senior students, lecturers from both Language Training Centre and Faculty of Letters also the Dean as well, Ibu Sulasih Nurhayati, S.S., M.Hum.
The participants of SETalk introduced each other and simply talked and shared about experiences, problems, and tips in learning English. At first, most students chose to keep silent. But, they were getting more relaxed when all the lecturers put some jokes which mostly came from Mr. Khristianto, and that really broke the ice among the students. One, two, three and almost half of the students started to ask questions and shared their opinions. At this point, we thought that SatET was going to be successful.
Tons of ideas are going to be applied in SETalk. Not only sharing ideas, but performing something will also be possible for the students. In brief, SETalk is a place to express ideas using English and it is for everyone who are willing to join. SETalk will be held twice a month on second and fourth Saturdays. Come join us and fall in love with English in a super fun way. (Fafa)
